We recommend 4 in-lb sma torque wrenches for Brass SMA's, 5 in-lb sma torque wrenches for lab testing with Stainless Steel SMA's, & 8 in-lb sma torque wrenches for final installation with stainless steel sma's.
IEEE P287 standard for stainless steel sma's is 8 in-lbs, many manufacturers list 7-10 in-lbs. Most manufacturers of brass sma's recommend somewhere between 3-5 in-lbs for sma torque wrenches. 8 in-lb sma torque wrenches have been reported to cause oilcanning when used repeatedly, so several well known manufaacturers of test eq recommend 5 in-lbs for lab testing of stainless steel sma's.
Calibration Certificates: We outsource our torque wrenches. Some don’t have any cal certificate (ex Huber Suhner 74Z-0-0-21, our CT-SMA8C, etc). Some come with a certificate which is dated because its been on the shelf for awhile (CT-516-8 etc). All parts are tested 100% in ISO9000 certified facilities. Should you need a current Cal Certificate, we can have this done at a local lab; $60 ea, 2 weeks; see product at bottom of each page to order.
